Gaming Setup Ideas That Will Help You Draw Inspiration

Spread the love

Whether you’re looking to improve your gaming setup, come up with a new look or build your new gaming setup, this article will help you with gaming setup ideas for your next gaming room. The good thing about having a good setup is that it can also double as your work setup.

First, What does a Gaming Setup have?

Glad you asked (wait, we’re the ones who asked but let’s see the answer). You don’t have to have everything on this list but having most of these items would go a long way in enhancing your gaming experience. Let’s get on with it then:

Sturdy Desk

First on our list which is a must have is a sturdy desk which is capable of supporting your monitor, pc/console, speakers… basically most of your gaming equipment.

Now, your desk doesn’t have to look exactly like the one in the above photo, but it should be a strong one.

Comfy Chair

Next, you need a chair that is comfortable to sit on even after long hours of gaming. We do recommend taking short breaks when gaming or working on your PC. Benefits of taking breaks when gaming include boosting your productivity and creativity. You can check out this article by Jake Middleton, for more on why you should take breaks.

Doesn’t this chair look comfortable?

Good PC/Gaming Console

Of course we need a PC or Gaming Console (PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One… You name it) for our awesome gaming setup. It really wouldn’t be a gaming setup without a gaming PC/console. Plus you wouldn’t be looking for gaming setup ideas if you didn’t have one or were thinking about getting one. Anyway, you need a machine that won’t fail you just when you’re about to come in clutch.

Isn’t she a beauty?

Decent Monitor

We’re looking at resolution(should be at least 1080p), refresh rate(at least 30Hz/30FPS but we recommend 60FPS), response time(common response times are about 5ms but 1ms is desirable for gaming) etc. These are just some of the basic specs you should look at when considering buying a gaming monitor. You can check out this article by Ian Paul for info on gaming monitors.

RGB LED Lighting

I’m sure this is what most of y’all have been waiting for on the list of what a gaming setup has. I mean, there’s something about having them RGB LED strips and/or LED panels in your gaming room. You can never go wrong with this. It’s not a must have for your gaming room/setup but having them sure does improve aesthetics and can create ambience in your gaming setup.

It’s amazing what RGB LED lighting can do to a room.

Ambient Lighting

Last on our list of things we think your gaming setup should have is ambient lighting. This one targets your gaming room/space more than the setup. We recommend having enough light for you to see things in your room to avoid eye strain that can occur when playing in dark rooms for long. We are also not saying that you should play in very bright environments.

Time for some Gaming Setup Ideas

It’s finally time to look at some setup ideas for your gaming room. If you think you have all the items needed for your setup, let’s see some setups that will inspire you when coming up with your own setup.

Minimalistic Gaming Setup

This gaming setup idea focuses on simplicity rather than being too fancy. As Joshua Becker puts it, minimalism is intentionally living with only what you need. Mostly monochromatic colors are used when minimalism is involved, so that’s a lot of black, white or shades of gray. These setups usually have very clean look. You should definitely go for this look if you want simple and not too much color around.

Environmental Blending

This one is a personal favorite. Just look at how everything matches in Zach’s photo, from the walls to the honeycomb panels and the backlight effect behind the monitors and below the desk. Such a setup usually involves matching your equipment to most stuff in your gaming room. It just looks great and has a more personalized feel to it. Be creative when going for this one.

Here, we go crazy with them LED lights. You can sync your lights with what appears on your screen to give you an immersive experience when gaming (or even when watching movies). The lights can also be synced with your music.

The Mood Setter

Still on using LED lights, you can use the lights for setting the mood in your gaming space depending on what you’re feeling. You should go for this setup when you want to play around with the colors yourself.

Have fun with matching your PC wallpaper with your actual wallpaper.

The Dark Room

I know I said that we recommend not playing in a dark room but this is not a totally dark room plus it’s a setup that looks cool sooo…. Anyway, this type of setup usually involves red or blue or both LED colors at the same time (most of the time).

The Aesthetics Gaming Setup Idea

These setups just look good in general. Everything in the setup is fine tuned to just look good. From the crystal clear aesthetic PC wallpapers to the fine PC cases. Purely an appreciation of beauty. Personally I don’t think I’d play or work here, I’ll just admire what a fine setup this is.

Bonus, PlayStation Gaming Setup

This one involves getting your hands on PlayStation gear and being creative with your setup. Xbox fans can also have their setups with Xbox gear.

Conclusions

Building a gaming setup can be quite a task but the results are usually worth it. Also, don’t overstretch your budget just to have your setup up and running quickly, take your time and be creative in the process. It’s also not a must that you have everything we have put on the list, go with what you’re comfortable with and what feels more like you.

We hope that we’ve provided you with some fine gaming setup ideas to draw inspiration from for your gaming room.
